I think the garden shed plans you sent look really solid. I was looking at them last night and the measurements seem to work well for the space behind the garage. We might need to adjust the roofline slightly to match the existing structures, but that should be a simple modification. The cedar siding option would look great with the house color. I can pick up the lumber next weekend if that timing works for you, and we could start the foundation prep on Saturday morning. Let me know if you want to use the treated pine instead for the floor joists, I know it costs a bit more but it lasts longer in our climate. The window placement you chose will bring in nice light during the afternoon, and the workbench area along the back wall is laid out perfectly for the tools we plan to store there. I checked the building code requirements, and as long as we keep the footprint under 120 square feet we will not need a permit, which saves us a trip to the town office. I can bring my mitre saw and the compressor if you have the nail gun ready.

I finally finished reading that history book you recommended about the development of early navigation tools. The chapter on celestial navigation was fascinating, especially how sailors used the stars to chart courses across the ocean. I found the part about the chronometer invention particularly interesting because it solved the longitude problem that had stumped explorers for centuries. We should discuss it at the next gathering, maybe Tuesday evening if everyone is available. I have some notes I took while reading that might spark an interesting conversation about how we navigate today compared to back then. The author did a great job explaining the seamanship techniques without getting too technical, and the illustrations of the astrolabe and sextant really helped me understand how they worked. Let me know if you want me to bring anything to the meeting, I can prepare a few talking points or just listen and learn.
