I think the best approach for the raised bed layout is to group plants by their watering needs rather than by size. Tomatoes and peppers do well together since they both need consistent moisture, while herbs like rosemary and thyme prefer drier soil. I usually put those along the edges so they don't get overwatered. For soil, I mix in compost a few weeks before planting and add a slow-release organic fertilizer. Mulching with straw helps retain moisture and keeps weeds down. I also rotate where I put the nightshades each year to prevent disease buildup in the soil.

I usually organize by genre first and then alphabetically by author within each section. It makes it much easier to find specific titles when you're looking for something. For fiction, I separate literary fiction from mystery and science fiction. Non-fiction gets grouped by topic like history, biography, and reference. The tricky part is deciding where to put books that cross genres. I tend to put them in the section where I would look first. If I am unsure, I pick the most prominent category. This system works well for a personal library of a few hundred books.
