The CCG collection of the United Houma Nation of South Louisiana is a community led documentation project to record cultural history and the practice of a range of material culture production. Houma lifeways are under pressure from forces ranging from destruction of natural materials due to climate change to private home-owners and developers who close off traditional gathering places and the passing of much knowledge as elders pass on. The recent launch of the digital collection on the AFC’s website provides an opportunity for the project directors to reflect on the four year process to carry out the project..
