Meanwhile, today's stop on the summer road trip is Mistake Mountain. Everyone makes mistakes. Some mistakes happen onstage, in front of many people. Maybe you stumbled over a word, forgot what you were going to say, or lost your place. It’s OK.
Often the audience never even notices. But there are other speaking mistakes that happen well before we step foot on stage. Here are just a few we’ve discussed at recent Speaker Friend Fridays:
- Not knowing our worth, especially when it comes to setting speaker fees.
- Getting up on stage without knowing our speaker business model
- Falling for a scam or pay-to-play event
It happens to the best of us. One thing about traveling with your Speaker Friends is that everyone watches out for each other. We share knowledge in our weekly zoom calls. We ask and answer questions, both in our meetings and between meetings (in our online community).
