Hi there,

A bug report lands with one line and no repro steps. The instinct is to stare at the code that seems likely, poke around, and hope the fix sticks. Half the time it doesn't, because you never proved you had the actual bug in the first place.

That's what Workflow 06, Debugging and Performance, walks you through, turning a vague report into a fix you can actually trust, and a process that stops the same bug from shipping twice.

It runs nine lessons:

  • Brief
  • Lesson 01: From Bug Report to Failing Test
  • Lesson 02: Fix the Cause, Not the Symptom
  • Lesson 03: Never Fix the Same Bug Twice
  • Lesson 04: Corner the Bug You Can't Reproduce
  • Lesson 05: Let AI Find What's Slow
  • Lesson 06: Fix It, and Prove It's Faster
  • Lesson 07: Catch Slow Code as It's Written
  • Lesson 08: Know When Production Breaks
  • Lesson 09: From Alert to Shipped Fix

The Brief and the first three lessons are live now.

Brief

Gets you oriented on when to reach for this workflow, a bug in production, a slowdown you can't explain, or a fix you don't want to make twice.

Lesson 01: From Bug Report to Failing Test

Turns a one-line bug report, something like "the count goes up by two" with no repro steps, into a failing test that reproduces it every time, so you know for certain when it's actually fixed.

Lesson 02: Fix the Cause, Not the Symptom

Makes the agent trace the root cause first, with the exact files and lines, before it touches any code. A double-click that fires two requests at once looks like a UI glitch, and the agent has to explain why it's actually a race condition before it's allowed to fix anything.

Lesson 03: Never Fix the Same Bug Twice

Doesn't stop at the fix. It works out why the rule that should have caught the bug didn't, and gets the agent to write a lint rule that fails the build next time, not just a note in agents.md that's easy to ignore.

The rest lands weekly, three lessons at a time.

If you've been watching Unlearn from the outside, Debugging and Performance comes with the same membership as everything else on the platform, workflows, deep dives, and this week's release included. Early bird pricing is still on, $299 $219/yr, with a 30-day refund if it's not for you.
