Hi there,
Bitcoin broke past $75,000 today, up 7.6% in 24 hours. It's on pace for its biggest weekly gain since March 2024, climbing nearly 20% in a week.
A few things are behind the move. Trump pushed Congress to pass the Clarity Act, a bill that would define how crypto gets regulated in the US. That kind of clarity tends to bring institutional money off the sidelines, and it did. Spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in hundreds of millions in inflows this week alone.
The rally also triggered a massive short squeeze. Over $3 billion in crypto shorts got liquidated, nearly $1.7 billion of that in Bitcoin alone, which added fuel to the climb. Standard Chartered's Geoffrey Kendrick is now calling for $100,000 by year end.
