So I went down to the park yesterday after work, and it was completely empty, which never happens on a Thursday. I think everyone was at that new taco place near the old library, the one with the bright yellow awning. Anyway, I sat on the far bench and watched two squirrels chase each other around the oak tree for like twenty minutes. It was genuinely hilarious, one of them kept losing its balance on the smaller branches. After that I walked over to the corner store to grab a lime and some cold brew. The guy behind the counter was telling someone on the phone about his nephew's graduation, and he kept waving his hands around so much he nearly knocked over a display of trail mix. I didn't say anything, just laughed a little and took my change. Then I came home and reorganized the spice cabinet because someone left the turmeric next to the cinnamon and it's been bothering me for a week. Nothing else exciting, to be honest. The weather is finally cooling off a bit at night, which makes the afternoon walks so much easier. I might go back to the park this weekend if it stays dry. My knees are still a little sore from that long hike two weeks ago, but I think they're getting better. How have things been on your end? I heard you were thinking about getting a new lamp for the living room, did you ever decide on one?
I was trying to remember the name of that documentary you recommended last month, the one about the mushroom foragers in Oregon. I thought I saved it on my list but I can't find it anywhere now. Might have been on a different streaming service. If you remember the title, send it over whenever you get a chance, no rush at all. I've been watching old cooking shows recently and I think my weeknight pasta game has gone up a level. Last night I made a garlic and olive oil thing with a splash of lemon, and it was better than I expected for a random Tuesday. The trick was taking the pan off the heat before adding the garlic, which I always forget. Anyway, let me know about that movie and maybe we can do a call this weekend if you're around. I'm helping my cousin move a small shelf on Saturday morning but after that I'm free. He's worried the elevator in his building will be out, so we may need to carry it up three flights. Should be fine, it's not that heavy. Talk soon.

Hey, so I was going through my notes from that art class last spring, and I found a bunch of small sketches I completely forgot about. Mostly trees and a few odd chairs in the studio. It made me want to pick up a sketchbook again, maybe just for quick drafts while I'm on the train. I don't know why I stopped doing that, it was so calming. I think I got distracted by the whole apartment rearranging project. By the way, the kitchen looks so much better now that the cart is next to the window instead of against the fridge. I finally put the cookbooks in one spot and the fruit bowl has a real home. I also found a tiny ceramic bird behind the toaster, I have no memory of buying it, but it's kind of cute so I left it out. Anyway, I need to decide which pens to buy for the sketching thing, any favorites? I used to have a set of fine liners that dried out way too fast. Maybe I'll just use a normal pencil until I figure it out. Also, I tried that ginger tea you mentioned and it's actually pretty good with a spoon of honey, though my microwave made it weirdly hot in the middle only. I think it's time to get a new one, the old one has a crack on the door handle anyway. Let me know if you want to do a short art supply trip sometime, I'll tag along. No big plans otherwise, mostly just weekend errands and maybe some laundry if I get motivated. Hope your week has been smooth.
One more thing, I fixed the squeaky hinge on the bathroom door today. Took all of ten minutes and now it's silent. That sound was getting in my head every time I closed it at night. I used a tiny bit of oil from the kitchen drawer and a paper towel. Works perfectly now. I keep opening and closing it just to enjoy the quiet. Anyway, that's about it from me. Talk later.
