Honestly I didn't think the road would still be blocked at this hour but here we are again. We left ten minutes earlier than usual because I had a feeling the traffic near the bridge would be pretty heavy. Turns out there was a utility crew working on the power lines and they shut down the right lane completely. We ended up taking a side street through a neighborhood I had never been in before. Some of the houses had these huge oak trees with branches that nearly touched across the middle of the road. It felt like driving through a tunnel made of leaves. My kid pointed out a tiny free library box someone had built next to their mailbox. It was painted bright yellow with a little copper roof. We didn't stop this time but I made a mental note to swing by again when we aren't running late. The detour probably added twelve minutes to the trip but honestly it was kind of a pleasant change from the highway. I called ahead to say we were close and by the time we pulled into the lot the sun had come out.
Not a bad start to the afternoon all things considered.

Anyway that was the most interesting part of the day so far. I'm going to grab a sandwich and sit outside for a bit. Talk to you later.

So we finally replaced the kitchen faucet this weekend and I have to say I should have done it months ago. The old one was dripping for weeks and every time I walked by the sink I would tighten the handle just a tiny bit more. It got to the point where I was using two hands just to shut it off completely. We picked up a new one from the hardware store down the road and the whole job only took about an hour. I watched a video online first to make sure I had the right size wrench for the supply lines. The old gasket basically fell apart when I pulled it out. There was a bunch of mineral buildup around the base so I scrubbed that off with a little vinegar before putting the new fixture in. Everything lined up perfectly on the first try which almost never happens with plumbing projects. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but no leaks so far.
The best part is the new faucet has a pull-down sprayer which makes rinsing out the sink way easier.

Anyway I should probably stop rambling about home repairs. Let me know if you still want to go for a walk later this week. I'm free basically any evening except Thursday.
