Tomorrow marks the first day of the 2026-27 School Year and the Fall 2026 sports season! The summer has flown by and now we stand on the leading edge of another incredible year in Stallion Nation! This time of year is always special, the new year and the new season have endless opportunities and possibilities for our 2000 students and I can wait to see how they take advantage.
This year I would like to personally encourage every Stallion to get out and support programs other than your own. Every one of our kids, regardless of the team or program they're a part of have been and will continue to work relentlessly in pursuit of their passion and that deserves excitement and appreciation. So stop by Laurel Hill and catch our golfers teeing off one afternoon, go enjoy Burke Lake and cheer on our Cross Country team on a beautiful fall day, stop by the gym and enjoy a volleyball game, grab a fresh hamburger and watch a field hockey, football or flag game, or step into our auditorium later this quarter to hear the amazing sounds of our chorus, band and orchestra. Regardless of how you choose to support, cheer loud, be positive and be your child's biggest fan!

Now that rosters are finalized, be on the lookout for our fall discount cards being sold be all Fall Varsity Athletes. The cards offer discounts to over 20 local business, representing a true community partnership and all money raised goes directly back into the teams and students to help purchase everything they need for a successful season. Cars are $25 each, and payments can be cash or check (made out to South County High School).

Starting this fall there are updates coming to our Varsity Football Games. Starting with the first home football game on Thursday, September 3, all spectators will follow updated entry and bag policy guidelines that can be found below:
To help provide a safe and enjoyable experience and to expedite entrance into FCPS athletic events, students, family members and all spectators are reminded that the following items are prohibited:
- Backpacks
- Large Purse
- Fanny Pack
- Tote Bags
- Outside food and beverage
- Sporting equipment (balls, bats, sticks, etc.)
Middle-school students and younger must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Approved bags are limited to:
- Clear plastic, vinyl, or pvc bags
- Small clutch bag no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”
- Medical and diaper bags permitted but subject to inspection
