LRES Office Staff Picture

Thank you to all our families who joined our Open House and New Family Orientation. The energy at Lemon Road has been incredible since our staff returned on Monday. We launched the week with breakfast and treats from the PTA - thank you for fueling our team on our first full day back together.

Tomorrow morning is always exciting!  For families that wish, the first day of school is the only day parents/guardians may walk their child to the classroom for a first day hug or photo.  We ask that after that hug, you make your way to the cafeteria for parent networking to allow the teachers to greet each child and begin setting routines for the year. Starting on Tuesday, parents may wave goodbye from the exterior doors.  We will have staff available in the hallways to help any student in locating their classroom.

Thank you to the Osman Family and Idylwood Presbyterian Church for the generous donation of bookbags and school supplies!  These have already been distributed to Lemon Road students so they are prepared for the first day of school.  If you did not drop off school supplies at Open House for your child, please send them tomorrow!

As a reminder, all cellphones, cellphone accessories, smart watches, eReaders, and personal electronic devices must be off and personally stored during the school day in your child's backpack. More details are available on the FCPS Cellphone Policy webpage.

We are looking forward to an amazing 2026 - 2027 school year!

Student ID Cards Coming Soon

Student ID Card Photos

As part of the ongoing commitment to strengthening layered safety and security programs, FCPS will implement a new student ID system for students who ride our school buses.

The IDs will be provided to students who ride the bus in the first few weeks of school. Those students will be expected to tap on and tap off the bus. The student IDs do not track student movement. The only information available is when a student taps on or off a bus. Much like our Here Comes the Bus app, our new app will allow parents/guardians to track the progress of the school bus.  Students that do not yet have an ID card will be able to ride the bus, but will be checked in manually by the driver.  Learn more about the bus navigation and student ID cards.

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Bus Riders:

  • Students taking the bus should arrive at the bus stop at least 10 min before the assigned time. The bus routes take longer on the first few days, so you may need to wait a bit longer than expected - be patient!
  • Parents, if you are bringing your child to school tomorrow, but they will take the bus home, be sure your child and their teacher know what bus they ride and your intentions.
  • In the afternoon, kindergarteners and preschool students must be met at their bus stop every day by a parent, daycare provider, designated adult, or a sibling that is in 7th grade or older.
    • If someone is not at the bus stop, your child will be brought back to Lemon Road and a parent will need to pick them up at school.

Walkers/Kiss & Ride:

  • For students arriving by car, Kiss & Ride is the most efficient and preferred option.  Staff and patrols will begin helping students into the building at 8:05 each morning.
  • Please do not park in the Kiss N Ride loop and exit your vehicle.  Students should only exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.
  • Parents may not stop in the Kiss & Ride lane, through the bus loop, or on Idylwood Road to drop off a child.  Students may use the cross walk where Lemon Road staff is present, but may not walk through the parking lot.
  • Staff report to AM duty posts at 8:00 AM.  Children should not be unsupervised on school property prior to 8:00 AM for safety purposes.  The playground may only be used by students if their parent/guardian is present before and after school.
  • If you are walking to meet your child, please meet them at Door #1.

Parent Digital Consent

Again this year, families will use the Parent Digital Consent System to complete some forms that have used paper in the past. You will log in using your ParentVUE Account credentials, there, you will be able complete the Digital Resources Consent form for the school year, which is required for all students. You will also be able to find more information about opt-out forms and complete those forms for your student.
