"The First Day of School is
TOMORROW Hornets!"
We are ready for a fantastic day of school tomorrow!
A few reminders for parents:
- Doors open to students at 9:10AM.
- The school day officially begins at 9:20AM.
-
The school day ends at 4:05 PM.
- Students will begin exiting the building at 4:05 PM.
- If you are doing kiss and ride, please be on time and make sure you have registered for a kiss and ride number. Kiss and ride decals will be sent home the first few days of school for those who did not retrieve them at Open House.
- Parents are considered late to pick-up if you arrive after 4:05 PM.
- Please anticipate delays in bus arrival and kiss and ride lines during the first week of school. Students are still learning the procedure for arrival and dismissal. Thank you for practicing patience!!
-
Breakfast and lunch will be served beginning on the first day of school.
- Check your child's MySchoolBucks account for balances or to add money.
- Families may qualify for free and reduced meals during the year. Please fill out the correct form as soon as possible.
-
Parent escorts are only allowed on the first day of school.
- Parents must enter through door #1, check in at the office, walk their child to the classroom door, enjoy a positive good-bye cuddle, and exit through door #1. Parents are not permitted to linger outside of the classroom doors or hallways.
-
Allow your child to follow the mode of transportation they will use for the entire school year.
- Changes to a child's mode of transportation causes confusion for both the student and school staff. When changes are constantly made, mishaps with transportation are likely to occur. Please help your child and our staff by remaining consistent starting from day 1 of the school year!
-
Bring school supplies tomorrow.
- Many of our families brought school supplies to Open House last week. If you did not have the opportunity to do so, please bring the supplies tomorrow morning.
- Families in need of supplies should contact our school office at 703-551-5700.
-
School ID badges distributed this week for bus riders only.
- If you have a child who will be a bus rider, their badge will be given to them by their classroom teacher this week. The badge comes with a cover and a lanyard.
- ID badges are to be worn to school each day when riding the bus. ID badges must be worn in the afternoon each day when riding the bus.
- Please help your child get into the habit of remembering their ID badge.
It's going to be a great first day!!
With excitement and Hornet pride,
Paula Johnson-Tyler, Principal
Kayleigh Merritt, Assistant Principal
