We spent the whole afternoon at that park down by the river yesterday, and honestly the weather could not have been better. I kept saying we should have brought the bigger blanket because half of us ended up sitting on the grass anyway. The trees near the water are finally starting to show a little color, which makes the whole walk from the parking lot feel different.
My sister showed up late with her dog and immediately dropped the leash, so we all spent twenty minutes chasing him around the picnic tables. He stole someone's bag of trail mix right off the bench, which was embarrassing but also kind of funny after the fact. Nobody got too upset, and the guy just laughed because his own dog does the same thing at home.
We talked about doing a beach trip later this month if the evenings stay warm enough. I think we are all just looking for any excuse to be outside after being indoors so much lately. Even a short drive to the lake would be fine with us.
Nobody remembered to bring sunscreen, of course, so a few people are dealing with red shoulders today. Next time I am packing it before anything else. We said the same thing after the last trip, so maybe this time it will actually stick.

I finally cleaned out the garage this weekend and found three boxes I forgot we even had. One of them had old photo albums from college, which led to us sitting on the floor for an hour just flipping through everything and laughing. There was a picture of my roommate trying to cook pasta in a coffee pot, which I completely forgot about until he sent it to the group chat.
Now the garage actually has enough room to park the car inside again, which feels like a minor life achievement. I promised myself I would keep it that way, but everyone knows how that goes. The workbench area is still a disaster, but at least one side of the space looks respectable.
We also dropped off three bags of stuff at the donation center, including a lamp that we never found a spot for after moving. The guy there said it would be gone by the weekend, which was nice to hear.
This week I want to finally tackle the closet in the spare room, but I said that last month too. Maybe I will actually do it this time. The trick is to start before noon so the afternoon does not slip away.
