In Tibet, at least 558 people are unaccounted for and three are confirmed dead - it's unclear if these figures overlap with Nepal's. Hundreds of tourists are among the missing, with many believed to have been undergoing a sacred pilgrimage to Mount Kailash. Scientists believe the flood was likely caused by a glacier collapsing, highlighting the issue of rapidly melting Himalayan ice. There are fears that further flash flooding could be caused by debris that was washed into the river.

The escalating trade battle between the US and Canada marks a serious and deepening rift.
