Releasing Colonial Wounds
With Grace Alvarez Sesma
Dearest friend,
Through the years of my own sense of loss and anger at what was inflicted upon my ancestors, as well as listening to others with similar emotions who have attended my sharing circles...

... I've come to understand that many people carry a sadness and a sense of disconnection from family history, from ancestors, and, in some cases, from their Indigenous tribe or Nation.

It can feel as if no one else can understand that sense of grieving for something that was taken, or that society unintentionally encouraged the forgetting of.

That may be some part of your story, or the story of your parents and grandparents getting left behind somewhere — in a language you don't speak and a land you've never touched.

If this is how you've been feeling, my upcoming 7-week live course, Releasing Colonial Wounds, will resonate deeply with you.

We don't have to earn our way back to our ancestors. That connection is already ours. In this course, I'll share what I've learned during my own healing journey, and the practices and respectful ways to walk toward it with honesty about what was taken and compassion for what's still possible to reclaim.

This isn't about collecting facts for a family tree (although you might do that too). It's about shifting how you move through the world.

When you understand what you were taught to forget — and why — you stop carrying that forgetting as a personal failure and start seeing it as history doing what history does.

That distinction alone changes things. You'll learn to tell the difference between real ancestral work and the spiritual shortcuts sold to us as substitutes. You'll build a living lineage map that holds the known and the unknown, the honored and the still-healing, side by side.

And you'll leave with a sense of rootedness, a place to stand, and a clearer sense of where to go next.

The biggest gift, though, might be permission — permission to grieve what was lost, to honor what survived, and to claim your place in a lineage of blood, land, culture, and spirit, all at once, without having to prove you deserve it.

I hope you'll join me.

Con aprecio,

Grace
