Sky's the Limit
From the top of the historic Bodie Island Lighthouse — guiding sailors since the 1800s and still a working navigational aid — our creators took in panoramic views of the Atlantic and Pamlico Sound. The exhilaration continued with Skydive OBX, free falling from the skies over Manteo and Roanoke Island before gliding to earth under canopy. Pro Tip: Book wind-dependent activities first. Hang gliding, kites, and e-foiling all rely on steady coastal wind — schedule these early in case conditions shift later.
BEACHFRONT THRILLS
Hooves and Horsepower
Back on solid ground, horseback riding along Hatteras Island beach with Equine Adventures kept the exhilaration going. Then with Kitty Hawk Kites at Jockey's Ridge, stunt kites ripped through the air at speeds up to 60 mph. Pro Tip: Ride horseback at low tide. Hatteras beach opens up wider when the tide's out, giving Equine Adventures' rides more room along the shoreline.

Lines In
Four excursions, one complete portrait of OBX adventure: chasing kingfish offshore aboard Bite Me Sportfishing's 51-foot boat out of Hatteras Harbor, surf fishing for red drum along Cape Hatteras, a Hobie kayak tour with Kitty Hawk Kites through Roanoke Sound for sea trout, and an airboat run through marsh-grass corridors and open flats with Captain Jamie of Outer Banks Adventures, engine humming low past the wildlife and beauty of the Sound. Pro Tip: Fish the Shoulder Seasons. Time your trip for spring or fall if fishing is the priority. Kingfish, red drum, and sea trout are all more active during the shoulder seasons, and you'll avoid peak summer crowds on the charter boats and beaches.
