Egypt: New Law Amends Regulations on Nuclear and Radiological Activities

On May 16, 2026, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi issued Law No. 10 of 2026, amending Law No. 7 of 2010 on the Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities. The new law was published in The Official Gazette No. 20 bis and entered into force on May 17, 2026. (Law No. 10 of 2026, art. 3.) It broadens the categories of radiological facilities subject to regulation, establishes new licensing and approval requirements, revises regulatory fees, strengthens the enforcement authority of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority, and imposes penalties for certain violations.Expanded Definition of Radiological FacilitiesArticle 1 of Law No. 10 of 2026 replaces the definition of “radiological facilities” contained in Law No. 7 of 2010....
