HANGING OUT WITH OPRAH

Hi ala,

So yeah, we were hanging with Oprah this week.

I have never seen a group of speakers so excited about sitting in the audience in my life. Then again, I've never had the opportunity to invite our members to join me at the Boston taping for The Oprah Podcast.

That’s right! A group of our members were able to sit in on the live taping of Oprah’s podcast. If you scan the audience on YouTube, you’ll probably see many faces you recognize. (Trigger warning. The topic is tough. The episode is ripped from the headlines and contains in-depth discussions on murder, suicide, and mental illness. Please skip the click if you need to.)

But we got to watch a powerhouse in action. Oprah’s…well, Oprah. One of a kind. Brilliant. Talented. Well-prepared. And compassionate.

We also witnessed a remarkable reunion. Our own Annie Meehan was a guest on Oprah’s show more than 40 years ago. She was able to reconnect with Oprah, say “thank you” and share her personal progress. Oprah shared that reunion on Instagram.

And we got to spend time together as a group. So many discussions. So many hugs. A special time. This is what a community looks like. This is what it means to have Speaker Friends.
