During last week’s Back to School Night, Parklawn’s Strategic Priorities were introduced for the 2026-2027 school year. These were highlighted during the evening’s welcome video, which you can find here . We hope families will attend our Parklawn Engagement Night on Thursday, September 24 at 6 pm. During this time, we will share what it means to be a TItle I school, highlight our Strategic Priorities, and discuss ways to engage with our school community.
The Parklawn PTA Board will be joining this event to connect with you! You will learn about their goals for the school year and discover simple, meaningful ways you can support the Parklawn community—whether you have 30 minutes to spare or want to take on a larger role. Whether you join as a member, volunteer for an event, or simply attend our gatherings, your presence makes a difference for our children!
Thank you to the PTA, who will be providing pizza for those who attend! We hope to see you on Thursday, September 24 at 6 pm!

Our shared goal each day is to have our students arrive at school safely and on time. Thank you for following our Kiss and Ride protocols each morning. This includes following the car line to door two for drop off. To have the cars move at a brisk pace, all adults should remain in their cars while children exit out the curb side doors.
We know family members come by Parklawn throughout the day for a short stop or a longer period of time. Regardless of the time of day or length of visit, all cars must park in a designated parking space. Thank you for your support!

September is Attendance Awareness Month. Some of the ways parents can help their children create healthy routines and a habit of getting to school on time every day include:
- Setting a regular bedtime and morning routine. (Need help? Download this checklist in English or Spanish.)
- Laying out clothes and packing backpacks the night before.
- Talking to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make your child feel comfortable and excited about learning, if they seem anxious about going to school.
- Developing back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
- Avoiding medical appointments or extended trips when school is in session.
If you or your family need any kind of support, please reach out to our front office. We are here for you! Visit FCPS’ Attendance webpage for tips and strategies.
The FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. This year’s SR&R includes new Universal Grade Matrices, which are at-a-glance charts that make it easier for families to see behavior expectations and school responses for grades K-3, 4-8, and 9-12.
Families, please review the SR&R and discuss these expectations with your child. Be sure to sign the SR&R acknowledgement form by Wednesday, September 30, either by logging into SIS ParentVUE or signing and returning the Signature Sheet to your child’s school.
Learn more by watching a short video about the SR&R (available in English and Spanish) or visiting the SR&R webp
