Hey ala,
Welcome to Founder OS.
Over the next 12 days, I'm going to walk you through something I call The Founder Journey… the path that leads from chaos to freedom.
From being trapped in your business to building a business that runs without you.
From being the bottleneck to being the architect.
… to build a successful $15M business that gave me back my life, my health, and my sanity.
I break it all down in this 60-second reel…
What I'm giving you is the shortcut.
These are the systems I wish I’d had at 22.
The frameworks that would've saved me years of suffering.
This is exactly what we install inside Founder OS.
We transform operators into systemized, scalable founders - running lean teams, high margins, and brands that bring clients to them. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure this out...
When Your Business Becomes Your Prison
I was 22 years old…
And from the outside, it looked like I had it all figured out.
I'd built a coding bootcamp in Toronto called Bitmaker. We were on the front page of Canada’s national newspaper, The Globe and Mail.
We'd graduated over 2,000 software engineers into jobs at Shopify, Hootsuite, and IBM.
I was crushing it.
Except I wasn't.
I was working 15-hour days. On a business I hated. With people I didn't like. I had no control. No freedom. No life.
I coped with the stress by drinking. My life started spiraling. I felt like I was losing my mind.
The business I’d built had become a prison.
Sound familiar?
A founder recently confessed to me, "I can't take holidays because I am the system. Every decision runs through me."
He has 15 employees. A growing business. And still can’t unplug for a single day.
The breaking point? A panic attack on what should've been a normal Tuesday.
At Bitmaker every decision had to go through me. Every approval. Every client call. Every emergency.
If I took a day off, everything stalled.
I thought about giving up.
Then two enforcement agents from the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities showed up at my office.
They told me I was operating an "unregistered private career college." That I could be fined up to a million dollars and face a year in prison.
My entire world collapsed.
That breakdown turned into a breakthrough.
I know that sounds like some kind of guru bullshit.
But it’s true. I lived it.
I stayed up all night emailing over 3,000 people, every VC in North America, every tech founder I knew, every news publication.
Within a week, Bitmaker was trending on Twitter.
Paul Graham, co-founder of Y Combinator, the most successful start-up accelerators in the world...
Vinod Khosla, venture capitalist and co-founder of Sun Microsystems...
Chamath Palihapitiya, the guy that grew Facebook from 1 million to 1 billion users…
They all tweeted their support.
And something insane happened 1 week later…
We got the only exemption of its kind in Canada.
One year later, I sold Bitmaker for a life-changing sum.
There’s a Better Way to Build a Business
Fast forward to today.
14 years later, I run a portfolio of companies generating $15M per year.
I do 4 hours of deep work a day. I've been based in Bali the last 6 months, and my business continues to grow without me babysitting every move.
No responding to Slack notifications at 2 AM. No panic attacks on "normal" Tuesdays. No guilt about taking time off.
I went from being the entire system…
To being the architect who designs the systems…
So that the business can run without me.
I'm not telling you this to flex.
I'm telling you this because I used to be exactly where you may be right now… stuck, overwhelmed, wondering if there's a better way to build.
There is.
And that's why I built Founder OS.
After Bitmaker, I spent the next decade obsessed with one question…
How do you build a business that increases your sense of aliveness as it scales (not consumes it)?
The answer is simple.
Systems.
Not just any systems. The kind that let you step out of operations without losing control or trust.
A CEO Scorecard so you know what's working. Onboarding systems so new hires don't need you to think for them. Clear one-pagers so everyone knows the mission without a meeting.
Systems for creating content that compounds. And offers that practically sell themselves because it’s so simple and easy for someone to understand how you can help them.
If you don't have a system, you ARE the system.
And you can't unplug from yourself.
But most founders just never have time to build the systems.
You're running calls and managing people. Putting out fires that didn't exist last Tuesday.
You know you should post content. You don’t. The guilt of NOT posting feels worse than the work would.
You have 10 years of expertise and nobody on the internet knows who you are.
Semi-warm leads keep saying, "I need to think about it.” They never come back.
You finish the week thinking, "I was busy. But was I effective?"
You finish the month thinking, “If I do not figure this out, next year looks exactly like this one.”
I get it. Which is why I didn't stop at teaching systems.
I built the operating system that does the heavy lifting for you.
It's called Founder OS Velocity.
Inside you get:
If you read these next 12 emails and think "I know I need this, I just don't have the bandwidth to build it alone". There's a faster path, details in the P.S.
Or book a call right now to learn more.
The Operating System Behind a Business That Finally Runs Smoothly
Over the next 12 days, I'm going to show you the systems I install to go from overwhelmed operator…
To building a systemized, scalable founder-led brand.
Founder OS is the actual operating system I use to run my own business.
By email 12, you'll have a complete map of how to build a business that works for you, not the other way around.
Take 60 Seconds
Before tomorrow's email, I want you to take just 60 seconds.
Close your eyes and imagine what your life would look like if your business could run without you for 30 days. Imagine actually taking that holiday. No fires routing through you. No guilt about being offline.
Your team executing without waiting for your approval. Your content system running. Your business growing.
What would you do with that time? Pick up that hobby again? See those friends you've been too "busy" for? Actually sleep past 6 AM without anxiety?
Tomorrow, I'm going to show you how to diagnose where you're stuck and what's actually keeping you trapped.
So you can see that this kind of freedom is actually possible.
Talk soon,
Matt
P.S. Over the next 12 days, I'll walk you through the exact systems that took me from founder prison to founder freedom.
But if you already know you don't want to build it alone, there's a faster path.
It's called Founder OS Velocity. Built for founders who want a business powered by their personal brand, running on a lean team, with AI doing the work that used to take five people.
Inside Velocity you get:
Don't wait until email 12 to decide. Apply for Founder OS now and my team will show you exactly what gets built.
