Regarding the parking situation near the botanical garden, I drove by last Sunday around noon.
The small lot behind the greenhouse was already full, but the street along the east fence had a few open spots.
Some of those spaces require a resident permit before ten in the morning, so afternoon parking should be fine without one.
My sister mentioned that the pay stations near the main gate accept cards now, not just coins.
If we go on a weekday, the tram on Mill Road drops you about two blocks from the visitor entrance.
That might be easier than searching for a spot. The walk from there passes the old stone bridge and a little cafe with outdoor benches.
We could meet at that cafe around half past eleven and head in together.
