Honestly, I think we should just drive up on Thursday morning instead of Friday night. Traffic on the 405 is always a mess after four and we would just end up sitting there wasting time. If we leave by six thirty we can stop at that bakery in San Clemente for breakfast, they have the best cinnamon rolls and the coffee is pretty decent. Then we can check into the cabin by noon and still have the whole afternoon to unload the kayaks and maybe take a short hike before dinner. I already mapped out the route and it adds about twenty minutes compared to the other way but there is a scenic overlook near the lake that is worth it. We should also pack extra towels and maybe a small tarp because the weather report mentioned some light rain on Saturday afternoon. Let me know what you think.
Also, can you bring the cooler with the wheels? I will bring the small one too. We can divide the groceries between them. I will handle the sandwiches and snacks, you do the drinks. Hey, I was looking at the calendar for next month and I think the best weekend for the camping trip would be the second or third one. The first weekend has that street fair and the last one is too close to your conference. I called the ranger station and they said loop B still has a few spots left, but we need to reserve by this Wednesday. I can put the reservation on my card and you can just cover the groceries when we stop in Bishop. We should also decide on the meal plan so we do not overpack. I am thinking we do simple breakfasts, sandwiches for lunch, and one big pot of chili for dinner. We can also bring the French press and a small bag of ground coffee. The firewood situation is fine, they sell bundles at the entrance for six dollars each. We will need at least three bundles for two nights. Bring your own sleeping pad because the ground is rocky at that elevation. I will bring the extra headlamps and the first aid kit. Let me know your thoughts by tomorrow evening so I can lock it in. I also have a small folding table we can bring for the camp stove. Should I grab the blue tarp from the garage just in case? I think that covers everything for now.
