Fresh off winning the 2026 Franz Edelman Award, Microsoft is bringing hyperscale optimization to the Gurobi Decision Intelligence Summit in Las Vegas.
Microsoft transformed its cloud supply chain through the Intelligent Fulfillment Service (IFS), a production system that integrates machine learning, mathematical optimization, and generative AI to coordinate hyperscale fulfillment decisions across cloud demand, server supply, and data center capacity. IFS reduces end-to-end cycle times by more than 50% and delivers hundreds of millions of dollars in annual savings, while mitigating tariff exposure through cost-aware decision making.
Central to IFS is an LLM-powered assistant based on the OptiGuide framework, enabling planners to interact with the optimization system using natural language. It provides real-time explanations and scenario analysis, building trust in the underlying algorithms, compressing decision cycles from days to minutes, and reducing fulfillment team workload by 23%.
