Becoming a Ceremony Keeper |

Rory, A wedding. A profound loss. A turning point. Some moments deserve our full attention. We want to pause, acknowledge what’s happening, and give it the care and meaning it deserves. Ceremony can give us a way to do that through the words we speak, the space we create, and the ways we gather together.
But how do you create the kind of space where people feel safe enough to be fully present with whatever the moment brings? Trauma-informed ceremony and integration facilitator Dr. Marie Mbouni has devoted herself to this living art. Her new 18-week live video training begins today, Thursday, October 8, at 1:00pm Pacific, and I’d love to have you join us. |
Dr. Marie affirms that long before a prayer is spoken or a ritual unfolds, your body, breath, nervous system, presence, and capacity to listen are already shaping what happens in the space you’re holding. Because real people bring their grief, joy, vulnerability, memories, and hopes into the room. Someone may begin to cry. The words you planned may suddenly no longer feel right. A silence may open that you hadn’t anticipated. How you meet those moments is part of the art of ceremony. Dr. Marie has designed this as a true online apprenticeship in both creating ceremony and becoming someone who can guide it with presence, discernment, creativity, and care. You’ll learn the living architecture behind a meaningful ceremony: how to prepare yourself before anyone arrives, welcome people with care, listen for what a moment needs, and shape an experience that moves naturally from opening through integration. You’ll also develop a rich ceremonial language of your own, working with voice, silence, movement, sound, prayer, symbols, creativity, and the elements in ways that reflect your particular gifts. And Dr. Marie will help you prepare for the moments you can’t script: how to stay grounded when strong emotions arise, work with clear boundaries and trauma-aware practices, and respond with sensitivity when a ceremony takes an unexpected turn. Throughout this apprenticeship, you’ll: - Develop grounding, nervous system regulation, and somatic awareness practices to prepare yourself to hold ceremonial space
- Learn Marie’s Ceremony Architecture Framework for creating a meaningful arc from opening and intention through integration and aftercare
- Deepen Sacred Listening through the body, dreams, symbols, intuition, nature, and the subtle information that may emerge during ceremony
- Explore how altars, invocations, sound, rhythm, voice, the elements, and rites of passage can become part of your own ceremonial practice
- Develop ethical and trauma-aware approaches to consent, boundaries, emotional safety, and compassionate witnessing
- Create your own Ceremony Blueprint and bring your learning into a live practicum where you can receive supportive feedback
- And much more
By the end, you’ll have a framework you can adapt to the people and moments actually in front of you — whether you’re honoring something meaningful in your own family or community or bringing ceremony into your work as a healer, coach, therapist, artist, teacher, or facilitator. A ceremony can be carefully planned. Holding one well also asks for the ability to listen, respond, and remain present when the real moment arrives. If you feel called to develop that capacity and bring greater beauty, meaning, and care to the moments you help others navigate, I hope you’ll join Becoming a Ceremony Keeper today.
