A new country and a life-threatening condition
When Fallon was nine and had just arrived in Manitoba from Ukraine, she was rushed to HSC Children's Hospital in end-stage kidney failure.
Unable to speak the same language as her care team, Fallon found comfort in the kindness of doctors, nurses, Child Life specialists, and music therapists who made her feel safe and helped her find moments of joy in a very difficult time.
"They played games with her, sat with her to make friendship bracelets, and the music therapists sang and danced with her."
Now, thanks to a kidney transplant and years of support, Fallon is looking ahead to graduation and her dream of becoming a nurse.

Help Winter's Auto Service raise $10,000 for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at HSC Children's Hospital in memory of Paige Hope Kornelsen.
At just two years old Paige was rushed to Children's Hospital Emergency with respiratory discomfort. She passed away from a rare neurological disorder called Leigh's Syndrome. Every fall, Paige's family honours her memory by donating a portion of each auto service in her name.
