Well Hello, Iza!
One week from today, the Fab 5 are going LIVE for Love, Boundaries + Father Wounds, and there’s a question I want to answer first...
What is a father wound?
The term father wound describes the psychological and emotional impact of growing up with a father or father figure who was absent, abusive, emotionally unavailable, or unable to show up in the ways you needed because of addiction, mental health challenges, or a variety of other reasons.
And this doesn’t only apply to biological fathers.
It can involve any father figure you had growing up — and yes, you can experience a father wound even if you never knew your father at all.
For many women, a father wound becomes a worthiness wound.
It can be where we first learned that who we were wasn’t quite enough... ...that we needed to be different, better, easier, prettier, more successful, or more accomplished to receive love, approval, or attention.
And here’s the tricky part:
A father wound isn’t always obvious.
Sometimes there was abuse or abandonment.
But sometimes your Dad was there.
Maybe he loved you deeply... ...and he was also distracted, critical, unpredictable, emotionally unavailable, or simply unable to connect with you in the way you needed.
Those experiences can shape what we come to expect from love, what we tolerate in relationships, and what we believe we have to do to be worthy of care.
They can show up as overgiving. - People-pleasing.
- Difficulty receiving.
- Boundary struggles.
Or finding ourselves in relationships that feel strangely familiar, even when we promised ourselves we’d choose differently.
And THAT is exactly what we’re exploring in Love, Boundaries + Father Wounds, my FREE live event on Thursday, October 15, from 3–5:30 PM ET.
It will be LIVE with:
- Dr. Shefali Tsabary
- Nedra Glover Tawwab
- Vienna Pharaon
- Dr. Alexandra Solomon
- ...and yours truly.
The Fab 5, together for one powerful afternoon.
Just come, listen, and take what resonates.

Can’t make it live? Sign up anyway, and we’ll send you the recording to watch on your own time.
Because when we understand what shaped us... we get to choose what we carry forward.
I’d love to see you there.
