Our 5th graders, their teachers, and their families celebrate the annual "Corn Day" feast - a celebration aligned to their language arts curriculum.
Dear Freedom Hill Families,
We hope all are well and enjoying some sunshine after a weekend of the remnants of Hurricane Isaias. We had a blast last week on the Hill, especially with our 4th graders visiting Potomac Overlook and our 5th graders celebrating their annual Corn Day. It was wonderful to see so many families chaperoning or in attendance. Thank you for supporting our Eagles!
We also received some terrific news that accreditation data was released by the state related to last school year (25-26). We couldn't be prouder that FHES remains fully accredited, and compared to the previous year (24-25):
- Student mastery of content in math, reading, science increased
- Student growth on the SOL and WIDA tests increased
- Multilingual student progress increased
- Absenteeism continued to drop
- Our overall school framework score increased from 83 to 85
This level of success is a testament to our engaged families, hardworking students, and dedicated staff. Way to go Eagles!

Lastly, we are participating in FCPS's Outstanding Employee Awards for the first time in many years. We would love to recognize FHES staff who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in our community. Please take a moment to nominate an educator in one of these categories (learn about each category on the FCPS website):
- Outstanding Professional Staff Leader
- Outstanding Educational Services Employee
- Outstanding Operational Services Employee
- Outstanding Principal
