October Reading Tip: Make Time to Read Together

Make reading part of your everyday routine. You don’t need a lot of time or a special activity to help your child enjoy reading. Try reading together for 10–15 minutes, talking about a book while you cook or drive, or letting your child choose what they want to read.

Try asking:“What was your favorite part?”“What do you think will happen next?”“Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why?”

Even a short conversation about reading can help your child build vocabulary, understanding, and confidence.

Growing Together: Talking About Social-Emotional Learning at Home

Social-emotional learning (SEL) helps children build confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and other skills they can use in school and throughout life.

Growing Together is a family workshop for parents and caregivers of students at all grade levels. You’ll learn how to:

  • Understand your child’s SEL Screener results
  • Use the results to start meaningful conversations at home
  • Support your child’s social and emotional growth
  • Build confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills together

Join us to learn simple, practical ways to talk with your child about their social and emotional well-being and support their growth at home.

Coming in November: Family Engagement Month!

November is Family Engagement Month!

This year’s theme is One Team, Stronger Together. Families and schools have an important role in helping students learn, grow, and succeed. When we work together, we can better support every student.

As we get ready for November, take some time to think about simple ways you can connect, learn, and spend time together as a family. What is one small thing you could do to strengthen your family’s connection with your child’s school?

Be on the lookout for the Family Engagement Month calendar coming next month, filled with activities and ideas for families to enjoy together!
