Message from Mr. Greata
Dear Woodson Families,
I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend and taking a moment to observe and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day!
This past Wednesday, the Commonwealth of Virginia released its annual accreditation and school performance results under the Virginia School Performance and Support Framework. I am thrilled to announce that our school is Fully Accredited and has been officially designated as a Distinguished School in Virginia with an overall score of 97.7—a 2% increase over last year! Woodson’s report can be found here.
The Virginia Framework evaluates multiple key indicators of student success, including academic growth, attendance, English Learner progress, and college and career readiness through the "3 Es" (Enrollment, Enlistment, and Employment). This milestone is a direct reflection of the commitment and hard work of our outstanding students, staff, and families.

World Language Credit by Exam
The World Languages Credit by Exam (WLCBE) is an optional test for students in grades 7-12 who can speak and write (type) proficiently in a language other than English. Based on the results of the exam, students can earn 1, 2, and/or 3 world language credits. These credits are recorded on a transcript as Pass (P). No letter grade is assigned to any credits earned through the WLCBE.
The 2026 World Languages Credit by Exam will be administered at Woodson High School on Monday, November 16th during Returns at 9:45 AM in Cavalier Hall. It will last for both Return periods and conclude around 11:15AM.

To register your student for the exam, please turn in the Notification of Registration Opportunity WLCBE Form (available in eight different languages). Please print, complete, and sign the form and then have your student turn the form into their counselor in Student Services.
For additional information about the WLCBE, including a list of the languages offered on the exam and links to a practice test, please visit the FCPS WLCBE website.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s school counselor.
AP Testing Opt-Out Letters
2026-27 AP/IB Test Registration, Opt-Out Timeline, and Fees
As part of the FCPS Approved Budget, the fees for the first six AP/IB tests taken for courses in which students are enrolled for high school credit will be paid for by FCPS. Students taking AP tests without enrolling in the corresponding FCPS course are responsible for the test fee(s).
FCPS encourages all students to take AP tests for courses in which they are enrolled. However, students will have the opportunity to opt out of the test(s) by filling out an Opt Out form to be provided by the school during class this week. To assist in the decision-making process, students will be provided a report with their previous tests and current AP/IB course enrollment.
Regardless of FCPS opt out decision, students enrolled in any AP course must register for their associated AP test(s) in AP Classroom by October 30th. Instructions for this process have been provided by classroom teachers. Students who register after this date may incur a $40 late registration fee. Students who do not register by March 12th will not be able to take the exam(s) and applicable assessed exam fees will not be refunded.
AP students must make Opt Out decisions by October 30th by returning the form they receive to Student Services. Student accounts will be billed in December for tests that exceed the six FCPS-funded tests. The nonrefundable fees are $99 per AP exam.
