Big changes for Microsoft 365 Copilot

September brought one of Copilot's biggest updates yet. Microsoft is combining Chat, Cowork, Code, and autonomous AI into one experience, adding Home, Code, and Autopilot, plus new AI FinOps tools to govern usage and costs. It's rolling out through the Frontier Program. For you, that means new opportunities in advisory, agent development, governance, adoption, and managed services.

Copilot usage-based billing is changing

Starting December 1, 2026, usage-based billing will be enabled by default for new Microsoft 365 Copilot Business licenses purchased through CSP. It's still a user subscription, but advanced experiences like Copilot Cowork and Work IQ APIs need less setup. OpenText can help you understand the licensing, consumption model, and opportunities.

New! Copilot Partner FAQ updates 
Trials are limited to customers who are new to Microsoft 365 Copilot or those with five or fewer existing Copilot seats. Customers with more than five existing Copilot seats are not eligible.

 
 

Reminder: Microsoft Growth Margin updates now in effect

As of October 1, Microsoft introduced new Growth Margins on qualifying Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365 E5/E7, Security Suites, and Windows 365 opportunities, while lowering base margins on select legacy SKUs, including Office 365 E1 and E3. OpenText is reaching out to you directly with details on the affected products. Please contact your OpenText Account Manager if you have any questions.
