A federal judge in California ordered several federal departments, including Veterans Affairs, Defense, Energy, Interior and Treasury, to reinstate thousands of probationary employees who were terminated last month.

U.S. District Judge William Alsup said the Trump administration directive to fire all probationary employees was not legal, and the terminations were based on “a lie.”
