A letter from our editor:
The chilly, rainy week here in Los Angeles has matched my mood — I said goodbye to my dear rabbit Rosemary last week. Even though we had seven wonderful years together, it still sent me reeling; mending a broken heart is never easy, whether it's from losing a pet, a loved one, or even a home or a job.
Being at home can be a consistent reminder of our loss, especially if we have memories that still linger in our space. For the first week, I left her space untouched, bits of hay and old scraps of food strewn about, her favorite stuffed cow now left behind to comfort her husbun Alfredo (my other senior rabbit). The apartment feels a little colder without her.
Needless to say, these days you'll find me snuggled under a weighted blanket, drinking something warm, and listening to soothing music while I contemplate the magnitude of transitions like this. Another phase of life has come to an end, which means another one is beginning — there's beauty in that, I know, but it doesn't make the sadness any less real.
As I process all this, I think of how much my home supports me during times like these and am grateful for every inch of it, no matter how cluttered or disorganized it may be. So this week, my edition goes out to all of us who have experienced loss, and I've gathered a few gentle pieces of advice for coping in its wake. Sending hugs to all.
Warmly, Emily Editorial Director

Grief works in unusual ways, but I've found that cleaning can help me organize my feelings. I love this approach to meeting yourself in whatever stage you're at.

A weighted blanket won't fix anything, but it sure does help. These are some of our faves.

DIY
I recently completed my first acrylic painting — a serene scene of trees by a lake. I think I'll paint my little Rosie next.
