The Commander's Corner
Greetings and Happy March,
This month, we are reminded that spring is a time for renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings. It’s an opportunity to embrace new energy, while continuing to nurture the connections and relationships that keep us strong. Our officers remain fully dedicated to ensuring your safety and work tirelessly to maintain a secure environment for you, your families, and our community.
As we welcome the arrival of longer days and warmer weather, we are reminded that safety is always a shared responsibility. With daylight savings time upon us, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant. As we "spring forward," please be mindful of the importance of avoiding distracted driving, taking breaks when needed to stay alert, and adjusting any manual outdoor lighting timers to reflect the time change. Proper lighting can serve as a simple but effective deterrent to criminal activity.
Your partnership is essential in keeping our community safe. Whether reporting suspicious activity or supporting your neighbors, every action, no matter how small, helps to create a stronger, safer environment for all.
Thank you for your continued trust and support. Stay safe and enjoy the season!
- Major Culkin / Captain Morris

NEW: Announcing Connect Fairfax County
The Fairfax County Police Department is launching Connect Fairfax County, a new program aimed at improving public safety by allowing participants to register their security cameras.
Connect Fairfax County allows community members and commercial property owners to register their security cameras with FCPD’s Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) via an online portal. During an incident, our officers can quickly request access from the owner to footage that may contain actionable evidence and can be reviewed by our detectives.
Think Before You Click: Avoiding Text Scams
 AVOID TEXT SCAMS!
- Scammers are finding easy ways to hide harmful links in texts, disguising themselves as banks, toll service providers (eg. EzPass), or even package delivery providers.
- Follow our tips to help be savvy and avoid these scams.
- Know what to do if you encounter a scam.
Text phishing scams are a type of scam where criminals send fraudulent text messages to trick recipients into revealing personal information. These messages often appear to come from trusted sources, such as banks or toll service providers, and may include urgent requests to click on a link or provide sensitive details like passwords, account numbers, or credit card information. The goal is to steal your personal data or infect your device with malware.
Ways to Protect Yourself:
- Do not click on links in unsolicited emails or texts.
- When utilizing a search engine (e.g., Google), it is important to prioritize legitimate websites over sponsored advertisements, which often appear at the top of search results. Sponsored ads may occasionally direct users to phishing scams.
- Hover your mouse over any links (without clicking) to preview their destination. Phishing links frequently resemble legitimate URLs but contain subtle variations, such as “paypa1.com” versus “paypal.com”
- Always verify the information by going directly to the official website of the message that you've received.
- Do not disclose sensitive information such as passwords, Social Security numbers, or credit card details in response to unsolicited emails or text messages.
- Please report phishing emails to your email provider and the appropriate organization (e.g., bank, online service). Many providers offer dedicated email addresses or forms for submitting phishing report
