A federal judge in Maryland ordered that thousands of probationary workers fired by the Trump administration be temporarily reinstated at more than a dozen government agencies and departments.

The order comes hours after a judge in California directed six departments to offer reinstatement to their probationary employees who were terminated last month — dealing two significant blows to President Donald Trump's efforts to slash the federal workforce.
