One election down, one to go.
The build up and result of the Saturday 8 poll has dominated the airwaves - and much of the behind-the-scenes work - for myself and my ABC colleagues in recent weeks.
On the night, Nadia Mistopoulos, Mark Gibson and I teamed up with a small army of ABC reporters and producers to bring live coverage as the polling booths closed and the counting began.
Federal Labor Minister Madeleine King and former Liberal leader Zak Kirkup joined us to add some expert insight.
It was an exciting evening, and it became clear very early on that the WA Electoral Commission would face scrutiny over a range of operational issues.
Talkback callers alerted us to ballot paper shortages, unusually long queues and confusion at polling booths.
The fallout will linger all the way up to the Federal election, which is likely to be held in early May, after Cyclone Alfred blew the planned April election off course.
In the meantime, the Drive program team will keep delivering newsworthy content, listener-friendly segments about property, motoring, music and any stories breaking on the day.
Thanks very much for your company between 3pm and 6pm daily. Don't hesitate to get in touch on 1300 222 720.
