Aidan Barker, Electrical Construction student, was featured on the West Springfield website. The article talks about his path to success with the Electrical Engineering Program and Trades for Tomorrow. We are proud of the hard work and dedication that Aidan shows in class and at his job with Fairfax County Public Schools as an electrical apprentice. Read the full article here. A.Barker Eduardo Ramirez-Martinez, HVACR student, was elected as the SkillsUSA District 5 President. With this role, he will represent Edison Academy, Fairfax County, as well as Alexandria City, and Arlington County. His leadership will help strengthen our district’s engagement with SkillsUSA Virginia, ensuring that our students have a strong voice at the regional level. photo of E. Ramirez


Highlights

Edison Academy students had the pleasure of participating in the IET day at the NVCC Alexandria campus. We learned about the different pathways in their Information and Engineering Technology programs and toured the campus. Edison academy cyber students were among over 450 students from 22 Virginia high schools at CyberSlam hosted by George Mason University. They attended workshops from outstanding presenters and interacted with various cyber organizations.

The Criminal Justice program took their final visit of the year to the FBI Headquarters for an incredibly informative tour. We learned about the various jobs, requirements, and the storied history. We were also able to watch agents take their quarterly qualification assessment on the firing range.

The Auto Collision students have almost finished the Grease car that is being used in the upcoming musical at Edison High School. This was completed in a very short time. Here is the before and after.

Veterinary Science students in the level two classes had a virtual visit from Dr. Amy Pike, Veterinary Behaviorist, co-owner of Animal Behavior Wellness Center. The students asked great questions and Dr. Pike provided a wealth of information.
