Dear Chantilly Charger Community,
I apologize for the duplicate email! Sometimes I hit send before I have fully edited our news and it may have an error or may be missing an important announcement. Thank you for your understanding.
We have had a great week at Chantilly! We can feel the spring CHARGE in the air and are definitely seeing energy rising throughout the building. Our goal continues to be to foster an inclusive, engaging, and safe environment for all students and staff. We value your partnership and ask for your assistance:
School Arrival and Dismissal Safety
Please talk with your student driver and pedestrians about safety and remind them to follow all directions of our Security team and School Resource Officer.
- Student drivers who park in the library parking should use the crosswalk supervised by the crossing guard at the stoplight to cross Stringfellow Road.
- Crossing by the library is dangerous and stops traffic. Our SRO will be reminding students about safe crossing.
- We may revoke parking permits for the library if the unsafe crossing continues.
Keep School Bathrooms Open and Safe
We need your help to address some ongoing issues with our school bathrooms. Recently, some students have caused damage to sinks and toilets, resulting in closures and limited access for everyone. This is impacting our students and our resources.
Here's how you can help:
-
Reinforce appropriate bathroom use: Please talk to your child about using the bathrooms for their intended purpose and avoiding unnecessary lingering.
-
Support the "10-10 rule": This rule helps minimize disruptions during class time. Students should stay in the classroom for the first and last 10 minutes of each period.
-
Emphasize the no-cell-phone policy: Cell phones are not permitted in the bathrooms. If a student is seen using one, it will be confiscated.
-
Encourage reporting: Please ask your child to report any instances of vandalism or inappropriate behavior to a teacher or staff member.
If these issues continue, we may be forced to close additional bathrooms or implement a sign-in/sign-out system, which would take away from valuable learning time. We will continue to provide students with updates on available bathroom locations. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a clean and safe environment for all our students.
Congratulations!
