In the months after Donald Trump was elected president in November, Meta Platforms pulled out all the stops to get on his good side. So far though, it hasn’t helped its executives put an end to a long-running antitrust lawsuit that could potentially force Meta to sell off Instagram and WhatsApp.
Barring an unlikely last-minute agreement between the two parties, a trial over that lawsuit will begin later this morning in courtroom 22A of Washington’s District Court. A large squad of Meta attorneys and executives have already descended on the city to prepare for the case. Earlier this month, for example, a team from Meta, including Instagram head Adam Mosseri, appeared before Judge James Boasberg to demonstrate how Meta’s apps work.
