Change to Amazon Linux 2 (AL2) End-of-Life (EOL) Guidance

Change to Previous Guidance

This message updates and replaces all previous guidance on Amazon Linux 2 (AL2) End-of-Life (EOL) for CMS Cloud users.

Based on guidance from AWS Professional Services and the CMS Hybrid Cloud Team, all AL2 users must transition to Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023) by July 1, 2025, instead of the previously announced deadline.

Action Required

Please decommission all AL2 instances and migrate to AL2023 by Tuesday, July 1, 2025. We will reach out to customers with active AL2 instances using support tickets on Friday, April 18, 2025, to ensure all AL2 instances are closed.

Key Dates

Friday, April 18, 2025: Users with active AL2 instances will receive support tickets.
Tuesday, July 1, 2025: Deadline to transition to AL2023.
