AMD’s chip curbs: Advanced Micro Devices expects to take a charge of as much as $800 million after the Trump administration imposed new restrictions limiting the flow of chips to China. The company said it will seek the appropriate export licenses, but can’t guarantee it will receive them. TSMC and ASML differ: ASML shares fell on Wednesday after the Dutch maker of chipmaking machines reported first-quarter orders that fell sharply short of estimates. TSMC’s ADRs rose on Thursday after the Taiwanese chipmaker beat estimates across several metrics and held steady with ambitious sales growth and capex plans. Lyft’s European expansion: Lyft agreed to buy the European taxi-hailing app Freenow for $197 million, marking its first expansion outside of North America. The move better positions Lyft for its long-term global autonomous vehicle ambitions, CEO David Risher told Bloomberg Television. | |

OpenAI is in talks to acquire Windsurf, an artificial intelligence-assisted coding tool formerly known as Codeium, for about $3 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter. The deal would be OpenAI’s largest acquisition to date, and could help the company take on rising competition in the market for AI-driven coding software. | |
