WFP halts food aid to Yemen after Houthi warehouse raid

The World Food Program has stopped food shipments to Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen after rebels looted a warehouse in the northern part of the country, seizing $1.6 million in supplies. "The operating environment needs to be conducive for us to continue," says WFP Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau. "We cannot accept that our colleagues are being detained, and much less so that our colleagues are dying in detention. And we cannot accept our assets are being looted."

Talks between the US and Iran over Iran's nuclear program are at a "very crucial" stage, International Atomic Energy Agency Director-General Rafael Grossi says, noting that the IAEA will play a vital role in verifying compliance if a deal is reached. Grossi has warned that Iran is close to having the capability to assemble a nuclear bomb, as it has all the necessary components.

Haiti violence worsens children's food, health crises

Chronic violence in Haiti is driving displacement and limiting access to aid, leaving over one million children facing critical food shortages, UNICEF reports, noting that only 3.6% of the 129,000 children expected to need treatment for severe acute malnutrition have been helped this year. "We are looking at a scenario where parents can no longer provide care and nutrition to their children as a result of ongoing violence, extreme poverty and a persistent economic crisis," UNICEF's representative in Haiti, Geeta Narayan, warns.
