In the Summer of 2016, I decided to run off to Italy. I was a thirty-five-year-old overworked, divorced mother of two who needed a break and had PTO to burn. I loved my life then and I love my life now, but I was spiritually and emotionally depleted. I often went through my journey feeling as though my purpose was solely tied to what I supported: my kids and my work. There was nothing left for and tied to just me.
So, I made the decision that while my kids were visiting their dad for the summer, I would spend a week in Italy in communion with myself and God; it would be the ultimate “Eat, Pray, Love” experience.
