Following more than a year of restructuring efforts, Wiley notched major profit gains in fiscal 2025 and saw AI licensing revenue nearly double from the prior year. A trio of U.K. aerospace entrepreneurs have launched (no pun intended) a new sci-fi publisher that promises to cut down on submission response times and offer a 50/50 revenue split with authors. Little Free Library has appointed Daniel Gumnit as its new executive director and CEO. The Government Accountability Office, a nonpartisan watchdog, has found that the Trump administration broke the law by withholding funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, reports the New York Times. The Orange County Register talks with a number of California indie presses who lost their NEA grants. For Lit Hub, a librarian considers the ramifications of the recent ruling in the book banning case Little v. Llano County. Per the NL Times, several Dutch authors plan to cut ties with Veen Bosch & Keuning, the Netherlands’ largest publishing house, due to the publisher’s ownership by private equity firm KKR, which also owns Simon & Schuster. BBC talks with a comic book artist who is sounding the alarm over the threat AI poses to his profession. Meanwhile, the New Yorker wonders how AI could change how we read, and the New York Times predicts how AI could change how we work. And Slate dives deep into Toni Morrison’s 12-year tenure as an editor at Random House.
