WHES Celebrates Principal, Sharon Aldredge's Upcoming Retirement - June 30

Pic

After more than three decades in education, including 24 years at the helm of Woodley Hills Elementary, Sharon Aldredge retires having left an indelible mark on the school community she served so faithfully. A servant leader at heart, Sharon led with compassion, humility, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every child. She was steadfast in her commitment to character education, nurturing a culture where students were not only expected to excel academically, but also to grow as kind, respectful, and responsible citizens.

Sharon’s leadership was transformational, rooted in strong relationships and a deep sense of purpose. She saw her staff as whole people first; she recognized that care, empathy, and high expectations were not mutually exclusive. Her gift was in creating space for others to shine. Whether it was launching new programs, mentoring aspiring leaders, or advocating fiercely for families, she consistently placed people, students, staff, and parents at the center of her work.

Sharon’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the opportunities she created, and the community she shaped. Woodley Hills is stronger, more compassionate, and more inclusive because of her; she will be deeply missed, but her influence will continue to echo through its hallways for years to come.

We cannot thank each of you enough for another wonderful year of learning! It is because of the hard work of our custodians, cafeteria workers, office staff, parents, teachers, volunteers, and community members that we have had another successful year. The children have benefited greatly from our collective efforts. They have shown excellent character during difficult situations and have grown academically because of the support and guidance of the adults in their lives. We are extremely grateful to partner with such caring families.  To our sixth graders and those family members who are moving to other schools, we will miss you.  Remember that we will be here if needed because you will always be part of the Woodley Hills family!  For our returning family members, we hope you take some time to relax and enjoy your family and friends.  Be safe and we will see everyone in August!

Our Annual Cultural Festival, as always, was a success!  Thank you so much to our amazing and generous families for sharing their culinary delights, spectacular dances, laughter and smiles. Woodley Hills is truly blessed! In the wise words of Maya Angelou, “In diversity, there is beauty and there is strength”.  The greatest present one can be gifted is the presence of those who show up. Also, we greatly appreciate Carmen Quesada who has been the lead in coordinating and organizing the Annual Cultural Family Night, as well as, our staff members that are always willing and able to help! It wouldn’t be possible without them.
