A record 37 Quebecers have perished from sudden death since the start of the year while waiting for their heart operations, even as the Health Ministry and Santé Québec squabble over jurisdiction and resources.
And despite repeated warnings since last year from the leaders of the provincial associations of cardiologists and cardio-thoracic surgeons about abnormally long wait times for heart operations, no new targeted actions have been taken to address the crisis, reports The Gazette's Aaron Derfel.
