Urban Forest Master Plan Update - June 18, 2025

Priorities Survey Closes Today

Miss our public meeting on the Urban Forest Master Plan last week? Today, June 18, is the last day to participate through our virtual engagement option.

The Project Team is seeking your input on which actions are most critical for improving management of the city's trees and urban forest.

Take our short, multiple-choice survey to vote on your top three strategies for implementing each of the following objectives:

  • Objective 1: Strengthen tree and woodland conservation to mitigate development impacts and climate threats

  • Objective 2: Create a plan to strategically plant and care for trees

  • Objective 3: Utilize data to guide strategic planning, inform management, and track progress toward urban forestry objectives

  • Objective 4: Establish a dedicated urban forestry division to centralize, coordinate, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of all urban forestry activities

  • Objective 5: Deepen engagement with the community about tree stewardship

  • Objective 6: Strengthen city policies to protect and expand tree canopy

What's next?

The Project Team is currently working on an initial draft of the Urban Forest Master Plan, guided by the above objectives and public input gathered during the course of the project. Public outreach on the proposed contents of the plan will take place during the fall, with the fourth public meeting anticipated in October. Please continue to check the project's Engage Fairfax page for updates.
