Law Library: News & Events: Join us on Thursday, July 17 For "How to Handle AI? – Italian National Regulation in the Context of European Law," at 10 AM EDT

Join foreign law specialist Dante Figueroa and guest presenter Roberto D’Orazio on Thursday, July 17, at 10:00 AM EDT, as they examine the regulations regarding Artificial Intelligence by the Italian National Regulation.

In this entry, legal experts will analyze the EU’s AI regulatory framework, from a legal and ethical perspective, to understand the challenges posed by AI innovations to the traditional human-centered environment. Particular attention will be given to the recent European Court of Justice’s decision in the “Schufa case.” On April 23, 2024, the Italian Council of Ministers approved a draft of a legislative bill dedicated to AI and on March 20, 2025, a legislative bill was introduced into the Italian Senate concerning AI. Yet, no enacted legislation on AI currently exists in Italy. Thus, the webinar will also ponder the current and future implications of both EU and tentative domestic legislation on AI for Italy.

Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers: What's New? (July 4 Edition)

What's New? (July 4 Edition)

Chronicling America is regularly updated with newly-digitized newspapers from contributors to the National Digital Newspaper Program. Digitized newspapers are delivered in the form of batches, where each batch can contain one to many issues, from one or more newspaper titles. Recently loaded batches can be discovered on the Chronicling America Research Guide. More details about the batch can be discovered by clicking on the batch name link.

Just in time for the July 4 Independence Day Holiday, we've added newspaper issues that printed the Declaration of Independence. We hand-corrected the text in the Declaration of Independence so that it is fully and accurately searchable.

You can read more about how the Declaration fit into the context of the American Revolution on our American Revolution: Topics in Chronicling America research guide.

Check out all the new newspaper titles.
