📅 Contest Updates & Key DatesIn other big news: We announced the best student-produced podcasts in America this week – our middle and high school finalists in the 2025 Student Podcast Challenge. That's from the seventh year (!!!) of our annual contest.
A quick overview of this year’s class: We received some 2,000 entries from 45 states and the District of Columbia. What’s top of mind for these students? A.I. and its expanding role in the classroom, both personal and reported stories on immigration and, as in previous years, intimate interviews with parents and loved ones.
Other students went all out with their creativity, like a group of student journalists celebrating their favorite monster, Bigfoot, or a young musician pulling back the curtain on his first love song. We also listened to incredible original reporting on a local coffee shop that hires and trains disabled employees, and an investigation on what it’s like being a queer scout.
Beyond our 11 middle school and 10 high school finalists, our team of seven on NPR’s education team also spotlighted 69 standout entries for Honorable Mention awards. You can listen to them here.
Thanks again to everyone for being a part of the Student Podcast Challenge community. It means a lot to us! Congratulations to all our finalists and honorable mentions! We will be announcing our grand prize winners, on digital and on the radio, later this month. 😉
