Volunteer slots available September 19, 23, and 25
Moody Gardens is working with Galveston Bay Foundation on a project to mitigate shoreline erosion at the Moody Gardens Golf Course. We’ll be creating a breakwater along the shoreline with old oyster shells. In addition to protecting the shoreline, this will also create habitat for young oysters to settle on. The first phase of the project involves making bags filled with cured oyster shells. We have several dates selected for this work and each day will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration required.
If there is a group interested in volunteering but these dates don’t work, please reach out to Jennifer Lamm at jlamm@moodygardens.org.
Applications accepted until September 30, 2025.
Application and program requirement information is posted and available on the Moody Gardens Adult Volunteer page. The application can be found here: Moody Gardens Volunteer Diver Application. There are 2 forms for applicants to fill out (Stage 1 and Stage 2). Applicants will be able to access the Stage 2 link after submitting their Stage 1 response.
Divers of all levels are encouraged to apply if interested. Considerations for applicants include diving skills and acumen, a positive mental attitude, and an interest in the diverse nature of zoo and aquarium dive operations.
The application period for this onboarding cycle will close on September 30th. Recruiting and application opportunities occur each year in January and September. Questions and further information requests can be directed to Miranda Rodriguez, Adult Volunteer Coordinator, at AVolunteer@moodygardens.org, and Dasha Barach, Dive Officer, at dbarach@moodygardens.org.
We look forward to sharing more information about this rewarding program and appreciate your support of the Moody Gardens Volunteer Diver Program!
