Spooky season is upon us!
October in the northern hemisphere brings all things fall—pumpkins, halloween, cooler weather and idyllic roaring fires. And what does that have to do with software development I hear you ask? Well, nothing. So let’s leave it there.
Since our last newsletter we’ve seen the public release of version 26 of all Apple’s OSes, with the usual selection of responses—from underwhelmed, through exasperation through to world-changing. macOS 26 introduces performance bugs associated with use of private APIs in electron-based apps, which can lead you to being surprised at quite how many electron apps you actually have on your machine. And I’ve certainly spent far too long entertaining myself with the new spatial photos feature.
But this release also sees some interesting things for developers—including Liquid Glass (for which we’ll have a detailed tutorial soon), and the addition of Apple Foundation Models to the Apple Intelligence stable.
We’ve been busy updating our content around Apple Intelligence to include these new developments, and are running an 8-week Apple Intelligence bootcamp starting in just a couple of weeks. It’s absolutely the best way to get up to speed on how to integrate AI features into your apps, without having to understand all the theory behind the technology. Aimed at Apple developers like you! For more info, check out the info page, or book a quick chat to see how it can help you. Registration closes very soon, so be sure to check it out.

You’ll also see below that we’ve been busy updating our beginner iOS content to support our current cohort of Beginning iOS & Swift bootcamp. Don’t forget that all this updated content is available (without homeworks, mentor support and all the good stuff of bootcamps) as part of a subscription—so don’t be put off!
Stay tuned for some new book releases, and content modules coming together over the next couple of months—we’ve got some really exciting things in store for you.
Enjoy pumpkin carving, to all those who celebrate! |
