Good Afternoon Flint Hill Families,
Wow! It was an exciting day at FHES. All students and classes participated in Rocket Day and it was quite a sight! Classes gathered on the kickball field to watch their classroom rockets soar into the sky. I overhead students discussing the scientific method, hypotheses, variables, chemical reactions, pressure, propulsion and much more. FHES was also visited by FCPS photographers to capture the excitement! It was a great day of hands-on learning
Mrs. Costanzo's class welcomed visitors from JMHS to be reading buddies with her class today. The high school students were eager readers, game partners and conversation partners with the students and enjoyed their time together.
Bike/Walk/Roll to School Day is back on! Tuesday, October 14th will be the rain delay/make-up day for the event. We hope you will join us by biking, walking or rolling to school next Tuesday!
Don't forget to check out the wrapping paper sale with Charleston Wrap. FHES will receive 40% of the proceeds from the sale. Wrapping paper and other items are available online from now until October 24th.
Kindly,
Mr. Montaquila, Principal
Mr. Baker, Assistant Principal

FCPS provides families with a free service that allows parents and caregivers a way to stay informed about their child's online activity on any FCPS device. Starting Sunday, October 12, all parents and guardians who have access to student records in SIS ParentVUE will be automatically enrolled to receive a weekly Lightspeed Student Online Activity Report.
This report provides a summary of the websites your child visited during the previous week and is delivered every Sunday to your email directly from Lightspeed, our internet content filter.
Each weekly report also includes a link to register for the Lightspeed Parent Portal, which provides more detailed browsing information. This portal also gives you the ability to pause internet access on your child’s FCPS laptop during non-school hours, such as dinner or bedtime.
Visit the Lightspeed Parent Report page for more information and answers to frequently asked questions.

In addition to our students and teachers, we estimate millions of visits by students and community members to Fairfax County schools through more than 500,000 events. Most of the public meeting and recreational facilities available in the county are FCPS facilities.
FCPS works with the Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services and with the Fairfax County Park Authority to ensure that school facilities and athletic fields are available to the public after school hours.
The 2025 Bond Referendum will be on the ballot in November. Vote on Tuesday, November 4. Learn more about registering to vote and make a voting plan.

Good communication between home and school is vital to a successful school experience for each child. Questions relating to your child should be directed to the classroom teacher. All teachers have voice mail and an e-mail address. The school has a web page that links directly to each teacher’s e-mail.
Each year, FCPS produces a Handbook for its FCPS families. It contains valuable information you may need throughout the year, including calendars, services, and special programs, the instructional program, and information about starting school. Flint Hill Elementary has produced a handbook that includes some additional notes that are important for our school community.
